Plantar reflex -An overview
The plantar reflex is a diagnostic reflex in neurologial localisation.It is elicited when the sole of the foot is stimulated with a blunt instrument. This reflex can take one of two forms.
In normal individuals the plantar reflex causes a downward response of the hallux (flexion).
An upward response (extension) of the hallux is called as the Babinski response or Babinski sign.This is named after the neurologist Joseph Babinski.
